Australian businesses have always had the expertise and innovation to succeed internationally and Tritium’s win in October as the Premier of Queensland’s Exporter of the Year is a fine example of that.

The Brisbane-based company, which develops fast-charging solutions for electric vehicles, won the HSBC-sponsored Manufacturing Award in addition to the top prize. Tritium has become one of Australia’s fastest growing technology companies because of its significant export success. It generated a remarkable 97% of its revenues for the 2017–18 financial year through export sales alone, and has built sales and manufacturing facilities in the United States and Europe.

This year’s Queensland Export Awards recognised 16 businesses for their outstanding success and contribution to the state’s trade output.

Congratulating Tritium on winning the awards, Jeremy White, HSBC’s State Manager for Commercial Banking in Queensland, says the bank is pleased to award an organisation that develops innovative and green technologies.

“We commend Tritium’s design and development of efficient charging solutions, including those that use renewable energy,” says White. “Its vision for cleaner and healthier cities is in line with our own commitment to sustainability.”

HSBC has committed to sustainability by assisting companies in their transition to a low-carbon economy, and financing climate and environmental projects. Recognising organisations that develop solutions for cleaner environments is also part of this commitment.

The bank continues to help export-oriented businesses expand and do more business overseas. In Queensland, it has been assisting corporates and mid-market companies in their offshore growth by providing them with trade finance, foreign exchange and cash management solutions. It also supports inbound investments into the Queensland economy.

With a dedicated customer relationship team in Queensland, HSBC provides innovative solutions that integrate electronic banking, risk management, international trade, and payments and cash management.

The Premier of Queensland’s Export Awards is organised by the Export Council of Australia (ECA), the peak membership body for Australian companies doing international business. HSBC has been a member of the ECA for more than 10 years and has supported the council’s initiatives to help Australian businesses succeed overseas.
